The sacred heart soup diet recipe is one of those urban myths that seem to propagate through the internet in particular. It is also sometimes called The sacred heart medical diet. The sacred heart soup diet recipe is rumoured to be a diet which helps those who are overweight with heart problems, and supposedly came from the Sacred Heart Memorial Hospital cardiology department.

The Sacred Heart Diet is a fad diet that has been circulating for many years. The diet was supposedly thought to come from the cardiology department at Sacred Heart Memorial Hospital where it was used for overweight heart patients. However, like most of these diets - this is an urban myth.
The Sacred Heart Diet has been called a number of different names (such as the Spokane Heart Diet, the Cleveland Clinic Diet, Sacred Heart Memorial Hospital Diet and the Miami Heart Institute Diet. The diet also bears a striking resemblance to the cabbage soup diet.

6 large green
2 green peppers
1 or 2 cans of tomatoes
1 bunch celery
1/2 head cabbage
1 package Lipton Soup Mix 1 or 2 cubes bouillon (not compulsory)
1 48 oz. can V8 Juice (not compulsory)
Season with salt and pepper etc.

* Ingredients:
* 6 large green onions or large red onion
* 1-2 cans of tomatoes
* 1 large head of cabbage
* 2 green peppers
* 1 bunch celery
* rosemary & tarragon for flavoring
* shitake mushrooms for flavoring
* 1 hot pepper
* 2 or 3 cloves of chopped garlic
* 1 4 inch piece of kombu seaweed
* vegetable bouillon (such as Bioforce's Plantaforce)
Spices such as rosemary, sage, thyme, tarragon or oregano can be added as desired toward the ending of cooking. Season with salt, pepper, parsley, bouillon or hot sauce, if desired. However, with the bouillon added, it probably requires little or no salt.
Cut vegetables in small to medium pieces, sauté in olive oil & cover with water. Boil fast for 10 (ten) minutes. Cut to simmer & continue cooking until vegetables are tender. This soup can be eaten any time you are hungry. Eat as much as you want, whenever you want. This soup will not add calories. The more you eat, the more you will lose. Fill a thermos in the morning if you will be away during the day. If eaten alone for indefinite periods, you would suffer from malnutrition.
