Low Country Shrimp Boil Recipe

Shrimp Boil Photo1/2 lb. Keilbasa per person
1/2 lb. Raw shrimp in shell per person
3 Red bliss potatoes per person
1 Ear of corn per person
2 Lemons
Cayenne pepper
Cloves
Garlic
Bay leaves
Old Bay Seasoning
Black pepper
Tabasco

Optional:
2 Small onions per person
1 Carrot cut into 4ths per person
1-2 crabs per person

Boil water in a large kettle on stove or outdoor cooker. Season water with salt and your choice of above flavorings along with the juice of two lemons or 2 tablespoons of vinegar. Add potatoes and cook for 10 minutes. Add carrots, sausage and onions. Bring back to a boil. When potatoes and carrots are almost tender, add corn and crabs. Bring to a boil, then add shrimp. Cook a few minutes until shrimp are just done - they will be pink in color. Drain and pour into a basket or onto platters. Have cocktail sauce and Dijon mustard at hand. Good Shrimp Boil Recipe.

Shrimp Boil Seasonings Sachet Recipe

6 Black Peppercorns
8 Cloves
8 Allspice
1 tsp dried Thyme
1 tsp dry Mustard
1 tsp Celery Seed
1 Tbsp Cayenne

Wrap ingredients in cheesecloth and tie closed with string. Add shrimp boil seasoning sachet to water and simmer for 30 minutes before adding shrimp.

Key West Shrimp Boil Recipe

* 2 1/2 pounds Shrimp -- large
* 2 cans Beer (12oz)
* 2 tablespoons Old Bay Seasoning

Rinse shrimp and drain. Pour beer into a stainless steel pan and add seasoning. Bring beer to a boil, and add shrimp. As soon as beer comes back to a boil, remove shrimp with a slotted spoon. Serve immediately with Key Lime Mustard.

Key Lime Mustard Sauce

* 1 cup Nonfat mayonnaise
* 5 tablespoons Dijon mustard
* 1/3 cup Key lime juice
* Salt and pepper to taste

Combine mayonnaise, mustard and lime juice in small bowl and taste. Add salt and pepper if needed. Serve with the shrimp.
